Rogue Press is a boutique publishing house founded by a triumvirate of deviant writers. Our perpetual wallowing in the melancholia of the scribe elicits both dolor and cheer.
And so, it was only natural for us to band together and create this outlet for transgressive authors of fiction, nonfiction, metafiction and poetry. It is often said, too often in fact, that we live in a tolerant kingdom with exceptional values. That tolerance, however, is belied when it encounters a cultural narrative that is deemed alien.
Contrarian positions are deemed radical. Opposing paradigms are deemed incongruous. Voltaire’s oft-repeated citation is seldom practised. Society sings to a dogmatic hymn sheet while nuance, irony and satire are cast aside. Moderation and Mythology are insisted upon in our discourse.
We are believers in the dialectic, and the aesthete, and the absurd. We subscribe to the principles of parrhesia. We are not interested in privileged tones of voice or pious drivel.
The world is theirs already. It caters to their sensibilities. Neither are we interested in the trashy fatuity that permeate society.
We are looking for honest and earnest prose from fractious souls. We are searching for intriguing poetry from plebians. We are looking for wry, contemporary voices that reflect our troubled times. Having been stonewalled repeatedly by the gatekeepers of the book industry, we have gone Rogue…
Today, we are an agency for the lowborn creatives, the maverick and the hard-bitten, who espouse their pen with a preternatural fury, whose pages would have made firewood on large pyres built by the great book burners of history.
